About Gyasi Clarke

When asked about who his greatest influence has been, Gyasi Clarke reflected upon his music career and dedicated the title to the variety of musicians he listened to as a kid. Having grown up in the Virgin Islands, Gyasi has the opportunity to listen to reggae, hip-hop, R&B, Rock, Calypso, and more. As such, his own music abilities were shaped and developed by these genres. Now, Gyasi is an inspirational Caribbean singer and songwriter with a passion for creating innovative sounds that move the soul.

Music had always been a huge part of Gyasi’s life, but he didn’t begin pursuing it seriously until 2016. During this time, he quit his 3-year job at AT&T to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time singer and songwriter. While working as a wire technician, he knew that he was not where he was supposed to be. So, he packed up and moved from Florida back to St. Croix, and he hasn’t looked back since! By 2017, Gyasi was performing in restaurants, resorts, and events up to four times a week.

Even when Hurricane Irma and Maria hit the island, leaving it in devastation and without electricity for six months, Gyasi chose to carry on playing the acoustic guitar. With a generator for power, Gyasi wrote his hit- single “Caribbean Strong,” which has grown to over 100,000 views so far! Notably, this song also grew to be the area’s top song during the Virgin Islands recovery period. In addition, Gyasi had the opportunity to perform as the opener for the annual St. Croix Festival that same year!

Over the course of the next two years, Gyasi continued to perform around the island, building his social media portfolio. Impressively, he was chosen to open for the reggae band called Steel Pulse, which is known worldwide. He is also renowned for his lead role in the scripted series, SAND. Gyasi testifies that one of his favorite aspects of his career is the ability to continuously meet new people who also have an appreciation for music.
